Peanut Butter & Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip


If you’re like me, whenever you are attempting to bake something, you ponder whether to even bother throwing the batter in the oven and very seriously consider eating the batter, straight up.

Enter this cookie dough dip.

I’m a little bit completely obsessed with this cookie dough dip. It is perfect for dipping graham cookies or fruit pieces (like apple wedges or banana slices) into, or just for eating by the spoonful (what can I say, I’m a classy gal). Plus, this dip has a dirty clean secret: it is packed with fiber, protein and iron, due to its chickpea content. That’s right, you read it right. The secret/covert ingredient is not love (love is an obvious and overt ingredient in all my recipes, #duh), but chickpeas! Chickpeas act as the Houdini ingredient. And if there’s one thing I like, it’s secretly adding healthy ingredients to desserts, while making sure taste is never compromised in doing so. This dip is honestly too good for words.

This will be polished off in minutes! True story: I brought this dip to the medical clinic where I used to work and after a mere hour, people were fighting for the last few bites/complaining about how they had no self-control and were ingesting unhealthy cookie dough dip. When I revealed that the main ingredient was in fact chickpeas and that this recipe was plant-based, jaws dropped in disbelief. I also divulged that chickpeas, dark chocolate, oats and peanut butter all have low glycemic indices, meaning that this dip was less likely to cause blood sugar fluctuations than the typical cookie (or cookie dough dip, for that matter). Needless to say, I had colleagues asking me for the recipe as a means of getting their children/spouses to eat more chickpeas, and I was happy to oblige. 🙂

This recipe just might officially make me your recipe hero (not even kidding!). Here it is:

Vegan Peanut Butter & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip


  • 1.5 cups of chickpeas (if using canned, make sure they are drained and well-rinsed)
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. organic vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 4 tbsp. oats
  • 1/3 cup honey or agave
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips


  1. Place all ingredients above (excluding chocolate chips) in a food processor and blend into an outrageously delicious dip.
  2. Stir in chocolate chippies.
  3. Slam dunk graham cookies or fruit pieces into the dip and savour.

Nota bene: If you want this to solidy a tad, place in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
